What wine in what glass?
What wine in what glass?
There is a long list of wine glass theories, and it has been observed that
using the right glass for the right wine helps you enjoy it better. However,
if we all followed these rules to the letter, we would have no space in our
kitchen cabinet for all the various types of glasses. There is an easy way
out, but first, let’s take a look at what wine ideally goes in what glass.
White wines are served in narrow-bowled glasses to maintain the
cold temperature and preserve the floral aroma.
Red wines are served in wide-bowl glasses to allow for aeration, and
ensure a smoother taste.
Rose wines are served in short bowl glasses with taper, to direct wine to
the tip of the tongue to taste its more delicate flavours.
Dessert & Fortified wines are served in small glasses, directing
the wine to the back of the mouth to control sweetness.
*A white wine glass can also be used for dessert wines.
Sparkling wines are served in champagne flutes to retain the bubbles
and capture the flavour.
Rather than following these rules and having no space left in your kitchen
cabinet; find glassware that works for you and your everyday needs. A 6-set of
functional wine glasses would be a great buy.
