WINE FICTION- The real truth

There are a great number of misconceptions about wine, from the notion that all wine gets better with time *laughs in white wine* to the belief that expensive

wines are superior in quality and taste. Below are some wine myths, a logical explanation and a probable way out.

·       Screw caps Vs Corks: Wine with screw caps are believed to be of cheaper quality than corked wines, when in reality research has shown that

screw caps seal wines better than the highly praised corks. In cases when wines with screw caps may be cheaper it is not necessarily an indication

of quality. So, the next time you go wine shopping, load your cart with screw cap wines without hesitation.

·       Age calculator: With so many references to “wine gets better with time”, it will interest you to know that it is mostly red wine that ages gracefully

and there are other factors to be considered. Some wines are ready to  drink within two to five years of bottling while others can stay for up to 10 years.

·       NO! for Blended Wines: It has been said that wine produced from more than one grape type is of inferior quality; but that is hardly the case as

some skilled blenders are capable of developing big flavours from their blend and we know of several blended wines that have great reviews and have

        gone on to be bestsellers.

·       More money, Better Taste: While this is only common-sense reasoning, wine prices are influenced by a lot  more like production process,

supply & demand, wine ratings, celebrity endorsements. If you like a cheaper bottle of wine, buy that.

·       Food Pairings: It is often said that red wine goes with red meat while fish perfectly compliments white wine; but the truth is taste is individual and

what works for one person would not work for you. So discover your own ways to pair food and wine.
